Terrorist or Partisan?

WIth the Middle East nearing explosive levels, it amazes me at how the G8 are more interested in semantics than what is happening. I mean come on, they are just words but words are very powerful weapons in the right hands.

So let’s take a look at some of the words being tossed around here. I mean look at Iraq and you hear the media referring to the growing insurgency of the rebels. They are called ‘insurgents’ and have you bothered to check what the word means?

 in·sur·gent
Pronunciation: in-’s&r-j&nt
Function: noun
1 : a person who rises in revolt against civil authority or an established government; especially : one not recognized as a belligerent
2 : one that acts contrary to the established leadership (as of a political party, union, or corporation) or its decisions and policies (source)

Does anyone see the irony here? I mean the USA invades and kicks out a tyrant in Saadam and yet the nation is almost half in league in opposing the established so called Democratic Government. I mean think about it.

If this is truly what the people want, then why are they opposing it so violently? Kind of shows you what ‘meddling’ really accomplishes doesn’t it?

Then we hear about these ‘Terrorists’ like Hamas and Hezbolleh but are they really terrorists? I mean back in WWII the Nazis referred to the resitance movement as Terrorists, Thugs, Evil Murders but the Allies referred to them as Partisans. So who was right? Who is right now?

terrorist

adj : characteristic of someone who employs terrorism (especially as a political weapon); “terrorist activity”; “terrorist state” n : a radical who employs terror as a political weapon; usually organizes with other terrorists in small cells; often uses religion as a cover for terrorist activities (source)

So these are radicals who use terror to achieve their ends, but waht is those aims? In the case of Hamas and Hezbollah I doubt if anyone really knows. They might claim it is to regain control over their lands from Israel but in Hamas we know that it is also to eradicate each and every Jew alive in Israel. Now call me old fashioned but I wouldn’t call them Terrorists necessarily, but NAZI seems to fit pretty good, doesn’t it?

So what about Partisan?

partisan

adj 1: devoted to a cause or party [syn: partizan] [ant: nonpartisan] 2: adhering or confined to a particular sect or denomination or party; “denominational prejudice” [syn: denominational] n 1: a fervent and even militant proponent of something [syn: zealot, drumbeater] 2: an ardent and enthusiastic supporter of some person or activity [syn: enthusiast, partizan] 3: a pike with a long tapering double-edged blade with lateral projections; 16th and 17th centuries [syn: partizan] (source)

I don’t know but to me ardent and radical isn’t much of a swing now is it? So in the purist sense isn’t a Partisan fighting for their homeland also a Terrorist in many ways? I mean look back to Begin who was the Prime Minister of Israel. His group blew up the King David Hotel killing scores of British before Israel became a state. Was he a terrorist or a partisan?

Back in WWII didn’t the resistance movement go out of their way to murder Himmler’s chief aide in Chzekoslovakie? What about the bombings of ammunition trains and troop trains? Weren’t those acts of terror designed to oppose a rule of a government?

Keep in mind that Petin ruled France and there were others running the over run countries. Quisling comes to mind in Norway. So again, it is just semantics really.

If the fight with Israel is about Palestine and insuring a Palistinian State, then fine, let Hamas govern and Al Fatah rule, but kidnapping as part of a government plan? I think not!

Refusing to acknowledge the right of another state to exist simply because of its racial mixture is just as equally repugnant to me, and yet that is the stated objective of Hamas, Hezbollah, and the other so-called Terrorist groups.

All members of the G8 clearly call these organizations Terrorists, but in reality shouldn’t they be labelled for what they truly are, todays modern Nazi’s?

Stop the word games, call it for what it is. RACISM

No More KFC

Well I think that it was a mistake to order in KFC. Tried their summer bucket deal with half regular recipe and the other half their new hot ‘n spicy. Frankly, the new stuff sucks. Wasn’t hot in my book nor spicy really. Plus it was over cooked I think.

In fact I’d say it was just extra battered chicken with some spices thrown in not in the regular recipe. Oh well that may have been the least of it for me.

I think fried food is just not gonna cut it for me these days. Used ot enjoy it but tonight it seemed to aggravate my blood sugar and felt rather weak after dinner. Almost like passing out really so I think we cut that out of the diet. Plus I know, fried food just isn’t gonna help in lowering the waist line, so no more KFC or such.

Man, like I said, this gonna be fun…. NOT!

Maybe tomorrow?

I think perhaps one of the biggest obstacles is actually starting this shit. I mean seriously, you look at a long road of cutting back or down and it is a bit scary really.

Course the other headache is balancing being diabetic and not eating too much. See, in order to not get all screwed up they tell you to eat several times a day rather than just the basic 3 meals. Course for me, this means actually eating more than I am used to, which is perhaps one reason why I need to lose this tonnage.

My past was that rarely for the last 30 odd years have I eaten lunch or breakfast. Always had a big dinner, and then the mdinight snacks. This diabetes stuff is a pain though, so now its a matter of adjusting one’s routine and that never is easy.

So far today, one sandwhich and two cups of coffee with milk and one equal per cup. Better than what it used to be which was three or four sugar per cup.

Now for dinner, well its warm here so the wife and all have elected to order in. KFC which really isn’t a good choice given its fried, but fuck I deserve a break. No way am I cooking tonight.

So the count is 1 tuna salad sandwich on brown. This gonna be a bitch.

No More Super Size It For Me.

You know there is nothing worse than a reformed eater or smoker as they tend to get a bit self rightgeous and nag the living hell out of those they are with. Hopefully that isn’t going to be me, but hell you just never know.

So I am 51 and over weight and after my health scare I kind of thing that once more it is time to hit the old diet trail. I mean seriously the extra pounds are a pain these days, as the weather heats up. I mean you feel it more and according to the Doctor may have contributed to my little episode. So that is rather scary.

Anyhow, today I have decided to start recording all that goes on when one is starving themselves. I mean come on, when you eat a ton of food a day, then cut it down to slivers, well, to me that is starvation. Not trying to be a smart ass either as certainly it is in no way indicitive of what real starvation is or must feel like, but there is an empathy.

So bear with us as we begin our journey into slimness or maybe in my case, lower tonnage.

Course I am also the cook around here and I do enjoy cooking, but it isn’t easy. Easier I suppose when one has to cook for one instead of 3 but this should prove interesting. I have to cook meals for me, middle aged fat guy with diabetes,  and for Mom, elderly parent with health conditions. Then there is the wife, a 29 year old with an aversion to vegitables. Worse is he has a sweet tooth specially for all things chocolate.

Man this is gonna be an interesting ride!

The Price of Meddling

I don’t know about you, but I am tired of listening to George Bush and the various Senators & News types lie and obscure the truth of the matter.

Isn’t it time to call a spade a spade?

Jimmy Carter (a Democrat) should take the majority of blame for the current strive in the Middle East and the increased meddlingof the United States in the affairs of independent sovereign nations.

To begin with, it was Carter that made terrorists develop a mainstream side, while still maintaining their terror side. He gave credence to terrorists by recognizing Yassar Arafat as the legitimate voice of the Palestinian people and so made El Fatah appear normal. In reality they were then, and are today, terrorists no less repulsive than Al Quida, Hezbollah or Hamas.

It was Jimmy Carter who signalled America’s inability or lack of character in protecting its own citizens by his failed Rose Garden strategy in the Iran Hostage Crisis of his time. In fact, a crisis he spurred on by his insistance on forcing the then Shah to allow the religious clerics, the Ayotollahs, to promote their fundamentalism without restraint. Jimmy Carter forced those backwards thinkers on the people of Iran while it was the Shah who was slowly bringing Iran into the modern world. He (the Shah) also managed to curtail the more impulsive leaders of the region and so maintained some semblence of stability in the region.

All of that was tossed out when Jimmy Carter pushed for the return of the Ayotollah KHumeni.

You can buy the bullshit or look at the history of that region. The Russians took over Afghanistan and the American response? Boycott the Olympics. Like that was a real kicker in the Russian groin.

By not removing or being more forceful with Russia the Taliban gained dominance in Afghanistan and we all know how that is ending don’t we? America got 9/11 and Al Qieda and more bloodshed and war in Afghanistan.

Let’s not forget too that this policy of meddling started by Carter also led to the Iran Iraq war and the rise of Saadam Hussein as well, with more American meddling. I mean hell history is full of it, I mean America’s most hated enemy Fidel Castro was American trained and supported. We all know how that turned out don’t we?

Now we have Bush pushing for Democracy across the Middle East and you are all so surprised at the rise in violence in Iraq, and elsewhere? Come on, get a life and understand no one likes some outsider trying to push their lifestyle on them. Even if it is a better one.

I don’t know who will follow Bush in 2008 but in all honesty, I doubt if it will matter much. Least not until after WWIII comes and goes, and then, it just might be who is alive to give a rat’s ass.

Hell, just my warped opinion though.
