WIth the Middle East nearing explosive levels, it amazes me at how the G8 are more interested in semantics than what is happening. I mean come on, they are just words but words are very powerful weapons in the right hands.
So let’s take a look at some of the words being tossed around here. I mean look at Iraq and you hear the media referring to the growing insurgency of the rebels. They are called ‘insurgents’ and have you bothered to check what the word means?
in·sur·gent
Pronunciation: in-’s&r-j&nt
Function: noun
1 : a person who rises in revolt against civil authority or an established government; especially : one not recognized as a belligerent
2 : one that acts contrary to the established leadership (as of a political party, union, or corporation) or its decisions and policies (source)
Does anyone see the irony here? I mean the USA invades and kicks out a tyrant in Saadam and yet the nation is almost half in league in opposing the established so called Democratic Government. I mean think about it.
If this is truly what the people want, then why are they opposing it so violently? Kind of shows you what ‘meddling’ really accomplishes doesn’t it?
Then we hear about these ‘Terrorists’ like Hamas and Hezbolleh but are they really terrorists? I mean back in WWII the Nazis referred to the resitance movement as Terrorists, Thugs, Evil Murders but the Allies referred to them as Partisans. So who was right? Who is right now?
terrorist
adj : characteristic of someone who employs terrorism (especially as a political weapon); “terrorist activity”; “terrorist state” n : a radical who employs terror as a political weapon; usually organizes with other terrorists in small cells; often uses religion as a cover for terrorist activities (source)
So these are radicals who use terror to achieve their ends, but waht is those aims? In the case of Hamas and Hezbollah I doubt if anyone really knows. They might claim it is to regain control over their lands from Israel but in Hamas we know that it is also to eradicate each and every Jew alive in Israel. Now call me old fashioned but I wouldn’t call them Terrorists necessarily, but NAZI seems to fit pretty good, doesn’t it?
So what about Partisan?
partisan
adj 1: devoted to a cause or party [syn: partizan] [ant: nonpartisan] 2: adhering or confined to a particular sect or denomination or party; “denominational prejudice” [syn: denominational] n 1: a fervent and even militant proponent of something [syn: zealot, drumbeater] 2: an ardent and enthusiastic supporter of some person or activity [syn: enthusiast, partizan] 3: a pike with a long tapering double-edged blade with lateral projections; 16th and 17th centuries [syn: partizan] (source)
I don’t know but to me ardent and radical isn’t much of a swing now is it? So in the purist sense isn’t a Partisan fighting for their homeland also a Terrorist in many ways? I mean look back to Begin who was the Prime Minister of Israel. His group blew up the King David Hotel killing scores of British before Israel became a state. Was he a terrorist or a partisan?
Back in WWII didn’t the resistance movement go out of their way to murder Himmler’s chief aide in Chzekoslovakie? What about the bombings of ammunition trains and troop trains? Weren’t those acts of terror designed to oppose a rule of a government?
Keep in mind that Petin ruled France and there were others running the over run countries. Quisling comes to mind in Norway. So again, it is just semantics really.
If the fight with Israel is about Palestine and insuring a Palistinian State, then fine, let Hamas govern and Al Fatah rule, but kidnapping as part of a government plan? I think not!
Refusing to acknowledge the right of another state to exist simply because of its racial mixture is just as equally repugnant to me, and yet that is the stated objective of Hamas, Hezbollah, and the other so-called Terrorist groups.
All members of the G8 clearly call these organizations Terrorists, but in reality shouldn’t they be labelled for what they truly are, todays modern Nazi’s?
Stop the word games, call it for what it is. RACISM
