Natural Law

February 18th, 2007 | No Comments | Posted in World View

The more the Pope speaks, the more one wonders if the man is rational or suffering from some mental illness. Now the man claims Gays are subversive, because to grant Gays equal rights, to let us be married, goes against nature and the Law of God. Like where has this man been all his life? Oh right, he was in Hitler’s army for a bit, maybe he had too many cannons go off next to his head.

Seriosuly though, it is shown that being Gay is not a choice, its a fact of nature. Yet somehow we are subverting the natural order of things. Course he takes it a step further claiming that allowing us equality in marriage will cause harm to kids and society down the road as we are tampering with the natural order of things.

He went on to say that recognizing anything less than the marriage of opposite-sex couples would “penalize children, weaken the family and underline society’s future with laws that clearly contrast with natural law”. (story)

One day I would like to sit down with this man and ask him how he can be so Anti God as he is. I mean in his world, GOD is the creator of the world, and so how does he explain Gays? Do we come from Satan somehow? If so, how? It is just unbelievable at how a man who is supposed to be promoting GOD is doing more to turn people away than join. His witch hunts are becoming scary too.

No One Admits It

November 26th, 2006 | No Comments | Posted in Bite Me!, Ramble On, World View

Statistics are funny little numbers. I mean it is interesting to see how many quote stats to defend a position or to claim why something isn’t being done. Granted, in some instances it is more of a perception than reality but you know, it does make you wonder at times. Specially when it comes to hate crimes like Gay Bashing.

Given that the USA is on a holy war against Gays it seems interesting to note that even the Gay Mecca, San Francisco has resorted to street patrols in order to keep the streets save for residents. The one place in America where gays can walk holding hands, kiss and just be themselves now needs street patrols.

Ordinarily the pair might look as though they are members of a team on their way to a team function.  But they are part of a new community street patrol aimed at stomping out homophobic attacks before they can get violent. (full story)

Naturally the police say crime isn’t on the rise, but then too the United States doesn’t think Gay Bashing is a hate crime. They don’t think that bullying and name calling warrants adding attacks on Gays as part of their hate crime measures. So I suppose it is no wonder that police don’t believe attacks on Gays is on the rise. Somehow though makes you wonder why they held a special meeting and why street patrols now exist, with police officers in attendance.

Part of the possible problem too is that Gays are reluctant to report the assaults. After all who wants to tell some blue suit that two guys or three took off after them. We all now the defence too, these red neck bullies will claim the lone gay guy came on to them. Seems that is what works in America.  Given that, why would Gays report it?

Sad part is that in not reporting it, it also makes us feel more ashamed. I mean it is like we are being driven back to hiding who we are, not from just the political rhetoric, but from real fear. I mean it is like Gays are the group to hate above all others. It just seems that is the mission too, and what I guess has me most upset is that it is the religious orders who are leading that charge. This is not a message to send to young gays and yet we somehow seem powerless to stop this rushing tide of hatred and anger.

Look at the front runners for President in 2008. Other than Guillano, the rest all oppose equal rights for gays, including Clinton and Obama. So I mean, it is like the left and right are united together in insuring that we are kept in our closets. Sad state of affairs when same sex marriage is sanctioned in South Africa and Spain, yet good old America is rushing to pass amendments to deny it.

Interesting how two countries which share a common language and a huge border can be so different. I mean Dave and I routinely go shopping and hold hands. He and I even kiss at times in the local grocery store and no, we don’t live in a predominently gay district like San Francisco has the Castro. So it is strange to me to fathom how there can be such a difference.

And yet every single American politician calls the USA, the Greatest Democracy EverHow sad.

Will of the People or Presidential Aspirations?

November 25th, 2006 | No Comments | Posted in Ramble On, World View

For someone who has aspirations to be President, Mitt Romney seems to forget that the will of the people should take precedence over his zeal to force Gays back into the closet and worse. Seems that while the state legislature has yet to decide on whether a ballot to deny Gays the equal right to marriage he thinks the courts should force the issue.

(Boston, Massachusetts) Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney asked the state’s highest court Friday for an order placing a proposed amendment that would ban same-sex marriage on the ballot without the approval of the legislature. (full story)

Odd isn’t it? Here is a man who yelled the loudest when the court ruled Gays were entitled to those rules, calling them activists and worse. Yet here he is asking them to deny the people a say in that by going over the heads of his own legislature. Like how is that not activism?

How many times has this homophobe stumped around the country calling the judges activists and demanding that the will of the people be heard? Now here he is, trying to by pass the people’s elected representatives because they are not rushing to put a measure on the ballot. Odd isn’t it, but then he is supposedly planning to run for President and I guess we all know what his platform is.  To deny equal rights and to revert back to the stone age era.

Don’t really understand what the hold up is, though it would seem that some verification of all those names would be in order. After all it is easy to fake and then too, just who is paying for all these petition gatherings? Same bloke from Colorado? (see comment)

All this political nonsense aside, I wonder. What is it about someone being Gay that makes for such a political hot bed of discussion? I mean what is it really that they fear? I don’t get it and yet today when you listen to potential candidates for 2008 their stand on Gay Rights seems to be of great interest. I wonder why? It makes no sense given all the other issues out there that one would think were a tad more urgent?

Like how about the War in Iraq?

If that wasn’t enough to keep them talking, then what about the failed war on Drugs or the Illegal Immigration debacle? I mean how does Gay’s seeking equality make or break a politician? If you listen to people like Obama or McCain you wonder too, just where does the difference in political parties exist? The cloakroom?

Seems to me that these candidates and news media types should worry more about the life and death issues to determine who is best equipped to serve, than whether they support gay rights. Though in all honesty, I have to say that no politician should be given a shot at winning if they oppose simple equality for all. There should be no equivocation on that, least not in a democracy. Then too, one has to wonder, is the United States a democracy or an extension of some secret religious group?

Who IS Paying The Bills

November 1st, 2006 | No Comments | Posted in Bite Me!, Ramble On, World View

No not in your household, but when you see polls and the results these polls claim are representative of the populace, you should be asking some pertinent questions. Naturally the first question to be asked is who is paying for the poll in the first place?

Take the recent COMPAS poll in Canada that supposedly says that the majority of us think its okay to discriminate against Gays, or that civil servants should not be required to perform the job they signed on for in regards to marrying same sex couples.

The COMPAS poll for the Institute for Canadian Values which opposes gay marriage found that 57 percent of those surveyed said marriage officiants should be allowed the choice of whether or not to “officiate at gay marriages,” provided there are enough marriage commissioners available for same-sex unions. ( full story )

The clue to this poll results being suspect is who has paid for it. They are a group who oppose civil rights and have paid for the poll. Makes you wonder what the terms were but as you read the article, you can see that it is designed to create the results it did generate.

Which leads up to the next two questions people should ask when seeing these type of polls. Second is to know what the questions asked are and third, who were the participants? I mean were they randomly selected from Stephen Harper’s church or were they taken from a cross section of people on the voting register? Kind of makes a difference you know.

This poll shows me one clear thing though. It shows me that Stephen Harper and his band of Klansmen supporters are reaching closer to donning their white sheets. This is racism at its lowest as they attempt to justify their bigotry and hatred. It is a good tactic, least for George Bush so it is obvious given who Harper’s chief adviser is. After all he did run such a group in the states, and now is up here pushing American Values on Canadians.

Being Gay all my adult life, in that it took me a bit to come to terms with it, I have not encountered the blind hatred or racism that exists south of the Border. It is this tolerance of differences that makes Canada great, something Stephen Harper and his Klan are attempting to destroy.

Hate is a horrid thing, yet Stephen Harper and his Klan want to foster it, promote it, all in the name of their GOD. Well I think Canadians are smarter than that, and frankly I am surprised at how readily many Americans have fallen into this KKK ploy. Let’s take a step back and realize, GOD is not a GOD of hate, and if he is, if he is as Stephen Harper and George Bush claim, then I for one want nothing to do with such a diety. I cannot accept that GOD is one of hatred, of bigotry and elitism.

I choose to believe in a GOD of love, but that aside, both myself and Stephen Harper acknowledge that GOD created mankind, so if I am a defect as Harper and his Klan state, if I am a sinner by choice because I live the way GOD created me, then Harper and his Klan are in effect saying GOD screwed up. They are daring to question HIS plan, HIS creations, because of something they simply cannot accept or understand. I am who GOD made me, not by some choice or freak of genetic engineering but by GOD’s DESIGN.

Maybe it is time people like Harper and Bush looked within themselves to see how their hatred has poisoned them. Maybe it is time the electorate helped them see that but utterly ignoring them and relicating them to the backwaters of political oblivion. In the states, one week from today you Americans have that chance. To vote for any Republican is a vote for Racism and Bigotry, so if you believe in Equality, in GOD, think long and hard before you cast a vote for people who hate, who despise differences, who in essence HATE YOU!

Thank You Pope Intolerance

October 9th, 2006 | No Comments | Posted in Bite Me!, Ramble On, World View

I think it is only fitting that we all get down on our knees and thank His Holiness, Pope Benedict (Pope Intolerance) for helping to make this a kindler, gentler, world. After all we all need to know that GOD loves us all, and you certainly have given voice to that over the last little while haven’t you? I mean your comments about Islam and Muslims is merely a mis conception taken out of context, and your support for those political leaders who practise GODs passion for Freedom is well documented these days, so again, Thank You.

Of course he doesn’t mean the hateful things he says, after all he is sorry some of the time. Course when it comes to us Gays having equal rights, well that just isn’t in the cards. After all homosexuality is a social trend, nothing else, and it is a social trend he wants stamped out, in the name of Traditional Family Values.

Odd these are the same values that Stephen Harper and his Master, George Bush subscribe to. The values that have let Bush lie about WMD in Iraq and justify an invasion of a soverign nation. It is those values that led him to seek a ban on same sex marraige and cause an increase in Gay Bashing. It is these same values that have led to Republicans denying anti bullying laws or courses from being inacted, because well there are still about a third of school kids that haven’t been verbally abused or taken part in it yet. Course with so many kids shooting up their schools, no need for anti bullying laws or courses is there?

Under GODs name, so much hypcrisy exists today that it hard to tell where the bullshit starts or ends. Take the Mark Foley case, that is centred now on when did they all know about his penchant for young kids. I mean seriously, while they should focus on that, you would think there would be a damn site more about how to deal with the abused kids than who knew what, when? So much for protecting kids, just one more bullshit cause the Republicans and their coalition of Family Value hypocrites have hijacked.

There are serious issues and comments by Pope Intolerance only allow more evil to happen. Real evil, not made up bullshit about Gays and their secret little agendas. The evil that is being done to kids today by the Mark Foleys of the world is nothing to what these religious zealots are doing to the very generation coming up today. The way they twist their minds to parrot the parents and their relgiious hypocrisy is amazing. Anti Bully courses, teaching aids like showing differences and minorities is suddenly the latest target by these foaming religious fanatics who have clearly forgotten who GOD is, never mind what HE is about.

The sad part of all this, is that while there are many talking about dealing with Pedophiles, about protecting children, these supporters are the ones doing the abusing, and having their buddies cover it all up. As is the case of Mark Foley but worse is the parents who lead court action to insure that Hate is allowed where their kids are taught. As in the case of Georgia Tech.

60’s Generation Gone Missing

October 5th, 2006 | No Comments | Posted in Old Age, Ramble On, World View

I was around then and I remember some of that era, the one noted as the Love Generation and how everyone was preaching peace, love, and understanding. I recall coming home from school to the news of John Kennedy being assisinated, and I can even recall when his brother Robert was murdered as well. I can even now see that horrid image on the news of a soldier pointing his gun at the head of a Viet Namese clad in torn tshirt and shorts and pulling the trigger.

I can still see the tiny figure in grey saluting as the gun carraige moved passed him, the flag draped coffin in the back, the empty riderless horse alongside. I felt the tears then and even now as I remember that moment in time, when a generation stood still in grief and pain. Yet it didn’t stop, it didn’t surrender to the dark forces of the world or the evil that some did.

I recall all that and in looking back see how the sight of dead people was everywhere. The war in Viet Nam was in full bloom and students took to the streets in protest and then too there was the clashes at the Democratic Convention. I saw it happen and I look around today and wonder…

What happened to that Generation? Where did they disappear to?

Surely what happened then is no different than what is happening today. In the early 1960’s I might have been too young to fully understand the Cuban Missile Crisis but I saw the fear etched on everyones face as the whole mess unfolded, and I look at Iran and North Korea today and shake, wondering again, how did we all let this come about?

You have people of religion not marching on Selma to right a wrong, but instead preaching about Hate and how evil others are simply because they believe differently in God than them. Or you see men of religion, including the Pope, condemning world leaders because they dare to reach out to a minority in their own country and give them equality. What happened to all those Priests, Pastors, and Preachers who walked side by side with Martin Luther King Jr on the road to Selma?

I remember the election campaign where a Republican pledged to end a war of aggression no matter what and then turn around and commit a crime and walk away in disgrace. I recall the news of a convention divided but where you knew exactly where every candidate stood on the war, on civil rights, and today I see those same parties sling more mud than at an all girl mud wrestling tournament.

What happened to that outspoken and idealistic Generation? Where did they disappear to?

50 years ago we had just finished the second middle east war, one where the United States first entered the region to meddle in its affairs. We saw them then push Israel back from its gains, promising that there would be no more wars there. We saw Presidents preach about Peace and new trade barriers and yet no one needed to secretly wire tap the nation, or hold people in secret prisons. They wouldn’t dare think of it, let alone commit those types of outright civil right violations, and yet today it is accepted practise, even legislated under the two Patriot Acts.

Where did that generation go so wrong?

We in Canada had a superior fighter jet and yet our Government surrendered it to the Americans, all in the name of appeasement, and despite continued efforts of good friendship, we are still ignored and trod on like some vermin or ant. Despite losing that entire market, we still reached out in friendship with NAFTA by the successor to the Diefenbacker sell out, and that too failed. Still Canada kept faith with America and took in its citizens and aircraft in time of danger, and now, five years later we get a semi thank you and once more, we have chosen a government that is willing to sell us out at the drop of a pin.

Yet it was Canada who was the bastion of Freedom for those Americans who abhorred war and fled. It was Canada that opened its arms and borders to those flying from death and mayhem and murder in Asia and here we are, five decades later trying to once more get in bed with the biggest bully left on the block. What ever happened to that generation of Peace Makers like Lester Pearson and Trudeau who realized that sex was not the jurisdiction of Governments but of the people?

Where did all those from the 60’s generation disappear to?

I suppose they all grew up and became today’s Republicans, New Conservatives and still I wonder, where did they all disappear to? How did the values of then suddenly become redundent and inconsequential in the name of Conservativism? How did we all suddenly wake up and no longer feel for our brothers, our sisters, our cousins and cease to have the real spirit of God, the one of compassion and love? Where did it all go?

They had such promise back then. To end wars, to bring about Freedom all over the world, and to stand and oppose those who would take that freedom from their hands. They took to the streets, to roads in the deep south, and they won. It cost a lot in blood, sweat, and tears, but they won. They ended a blood bath in Asia and they brought about social changes. African Americans were no longer were hunted down and lynched because a bunch of men told others to do that, to do it because of the color of their skin. They no longer thought of Black people as sub human and unworthy of the same rights as other citizens. Women were given control over their own bodies, something many in the Arab nations like Iraq, Afghanistan, Iran still are fighting for.

Humanity took center stage in the world, and it was those from the 60’s that led the way not in rhetoric, but in action and with courage. They stood up to the old political hacks and fought them in the streets of their own cities, not in newspaper by lines or on news shows, but out in the cold bleak streets. They stood up the batons and blue clad men on horseback, and they won. They valued honor, integirty, compassion, and justice more than their own lives, as three young men showed in Alabama as did others.

Pulpits rang with the truth of God’s words, not with words of hatred and racism like today. The people spoke and the world shuddered and changed, and now, where has that generation gone? Where have they disappeared to?

If you find them, tell them they are needed again. Tell them that the world is not better as they had hoped and fought for. Tell them all, tell those of the 60’s to come back and reclaim what they had fought for so hard for back then. Tell them, time is running out.

Is Underage Sex Okay?

October 3rd, 2006 | No Comments | Posted in World View

If a man is older than 21 and has relations with someone say 16, they are called Pedophiles and shunned by society and frankly I think they should be. I think you can wait till the person is more mature and able to handle sex in a more responsible manner than kids do today, but that is me. Still I wonder, given the recent bullshit from the US Congress and the whole Foley Incident if perhaps society doesn’t agree.
It appalls me to think that so called leaders of a democracy like America seem okay with pedophiles in their midst, and perhaps even America does as well. I mean this isn’t the first case of some older Congressman being caught in a compromising situation. (God don’t you love that word? ‘Compromising’) Go back to 1983 and ask yourself a few questions about this whole mess.

Why was it okay back then and apparently okay as all that happened was a censor and worse, the guy kept his seat until he retired in the 90’s. So come on, either it is wrong or it isn’t.

In 1983, Congressman Gerry Studds (D- Massachusetts) stood up in the House of Representatives to be censored for having sex with a male page. Studds, however, did not resign and continued to sit in the House until he retired from Congress in 1995. (story)

Here the guy supposedly actually had sex with the page, which hasn’t been proven yet, in this instance. So how the hell did this guy get away with it? Why was it wrong then but instead of being kicked out, he stayed on getting re-elected? Has society changed its values that much in 20 odd years?

Makes you really wonder at the hypocrisy of all polticians, not just the Republicans who preach their devotion to old fashioned family values, but to the Democrats as well. I mean they were the group in charge then, and yet here they are, roasting the Republicans for doing exactly what they did, but perhaps not as badly. I mean least Foley is out, while the Democrat kept his seat and continued in his job.

Now I don’t support either party, and I wonder, what will it take for the American Voter to start seeking their leaders from different political parties? I mean obviously the history of both parties in the last few decades is deplorable, so why do they keep getting elected?

Personally, I believe that underage sex is wrong, on a general basis. I mean if the kid is 18 and his partner is 17 there might be grounds to ignore the incident, but a man in his 40’s or 50’s with a 16 year old? I don’t think so.

From the stories on the news too I have to wonder about the parents who seemingly were content with letting the matter drop which makes me wonder, why? I mean shit if it was my kid would I give a rat’s ass about any political party and its election struggle if the downside was my kid was being in danger? Somehow that smells like a payoff to me or a truly screwed up priority of what is important.

For myself, there is nothing more important than the youth. Without them, the future is bleak and scary, and yet we all see how politicians profess to want to protect them, but looking at the way some get away with things, I wonder. Have we truly lost sight of what is right these days? Are we too wrapped up in our own selfish needs that we are putting kids at risk daily?

Maybe if politicians really want to insure kids are safe from predators, they should clean up their own backyard first. Talk about Hypocrisy!
