In God’s Name

Or So They Claim.

The anti Gay movement is in full swing in California, as they pound on doors, pushing their Proposition 8, to set a constitutional ban on same sex marriage. A proposition that sets Civil Rights backwards, a motion, if passed, that enshrines the values of Hate, of Bigotry, and Racism. It sends a powerful message to all who hate, simply because someone is different, if passed. And yet the worst part of this proposition, is that it is being done in the Name of GOD.

An estimated 15,000 backers of the measure, most of them members of Mormon, Catholic and evangelical Christian churches, knocked on doors and distributed campaign literature to registered voters throughout the state this weekend and last, according to Jennifer Kerns, spokeswoman for the Yes on 8 campaign. Every religion has its ‘fanatics‘ from Judaism to Islam, and everywhere in between. The Christian Religion is no different, as good people, fall into the trap set by these self serving Ministers, Preachers, who claim to only be trying to honor GOD, but in fact, DISHONOR HIM. They promote HATE, because someone is different, because someone believes differently than they do. That is really what Proposition is about, not about PROTECTING THE SANCTITY OF MARRIAGE, as they claim, as those who rally around them shout.

This is about PUSHING THEIR BELIEFS ON OTHERS.

Pure and simple, these Religious Sects want to foist their values on everyone else. And for those who disagree, they don’t get their shot at the Golden Ring, called FREEDOM. Instead they get taunted and harassed, if not outright killed. Just ask Mathew Shepard about that.

Not every religious order believes as these people do. Jews for example are one, and have gone to the point where they welcome same sex marriage within their synagogues. In fact, they even ordain Gay Rabbis. There are even many in the Anglican fold who believe the same as the Four Major Jewish Orders do, that Homosexuals are NOT an abomination.

Proposition 8, if passed, would LIMIT THOSE DIFFERING VIEWS.  How is that Democracy? And yes, those who support Proposition 8 could be totally 100% right, in that it is God’s Will, however they could just as easily be 100% wrong. Nor is it their place to tell anyone what is and what isn’t a marriage?

One important facet of all this, is that these same people, who preach their HATE, who CLAIM to speak for GOD, for FREEDOM, forget that many who came to America from Europe, did so to ESCAPE RELIGIOUS PERSECUTION. Yet here they are, the descendent’s of those who fled Religious Intolerances, now doing exactly what their forefathers fled from.

No ruling has stated that any Church HAS TO allow Gay Marriages or even accept Homosexuality. In fact, it goes a step further, and clearly EXCUSES CHURCHES from the ruling. Keeping the original doctrine of separating Church & State intact. Yet these people disagree, instead they want to HAVE EVERYONE ACCEPT THEIR BELIEF, denying rights to those who don’t subscribe to their philosophy. How is that Democracy? Freedom?

Let us keep in mind, Homosexuality existed long before Christ walked the earth. It was a respected tradition in ancient times, called Pederasty. Also let us keep in mind, that in the bible Polygamy was a well established fact of life. How many wives did Abraham have? Yet today that is against the law, and while at it, how about the Mormon Church that claims Joseph Smith was a prophet of God. And that many Mormons believe in having multiple wives, and beginning at the age of 14, or younger.

Then too, if a woman committed adultery, well she got stoned, not a fat divorce settlement. In some Islamic circles, a raped woman can be found guilty of adultery. So there are a lot of things in the Bibles, that just don’t hold water today. Besides, no one is trying to rewrite the Bible, that is for those who want to believe, to believe. Those who don’t shouldn’t be FORCED to live a lie, or to live in fear, because a vocal few feel threatened.

Persecution is never justified, no matter in whose name you profess to represent.

Teach Them Hate

October 8th, 2006 | 1 Comment | Posted in Gaystoryman Opinions

I always believed that the role of schools was to inform, to educate about differences and about certain known facts. I never thought it would be to teach Hatred, and yet so many it seems believe that is the exact role of schools today. Take the story out of Brisbane Australia.

Evangelicals and conservative politicians are up in arms after a 13-year old girl received a failing grade for refusing to do an assignment on homosexuality ( full story )

Right there is the first part of this part of this whole problem. Is this an assignment about Gays or something more? The headline naturally lures us in because it says a girl is flunked for not turning in an assignment on homosexuality, and technically yes, but that isn’t what the assignment was truly about. It was about educating the kids on minorities, and how differences make their own contributions. It is about bullying as well.

Students in the grade nine class at a high school south of Brisbane were asked to imagine living as a heterosexual in a mainly gay colony on the moon. The assignment was aimed at teaching students what it is like being in the minority. (story)

It is amazing at how an assignment designed to show differences, to illuminate that only by a twist of fate one could find themselves in a minority, that suddenly it is about upsetting one’s religious morals. So I wonder, if the class assignment was about aboriginals and not gays, would those same parents be as upset as they are now?

This is the problem, if you substitute any other minority such as Black, Latino, Asian, Islamic, would these same parents be so upset. Would that 13 year old girl have refused to hand in her assignment? I mean think back to just over 50 years ago. It was an accepted believe that African Americans were derived from Monkeys and not even part of the human race in many southern States of the United States. Indians were considered heathens too, and so I wonder. How did they ever advance to where such thoughts today would cause a huge debate, would have people calling those people racists, demons, bigots, but if it is about homosexuals, well, they are just good God Fearing Christians standing up for their beliefs.

Give me a break.

Racism is racism, no matter how you cover it up or with what fancy politically correct phraseology. The girl is being taught to hate because some others are different, that is the bottom line. The school system was doing its part in attempting to change that, to end the generation of hate that seems to be boiling over all over the world.

The reason children aren’t learning how to read, write, or add has nothing to do with ths either. This is about kids going on rampages calling others fag, bullying and hating because that is what they are being taught. Each and every time some parent slams people of differences, Gay or other, you show the children that hate is good, that opposing it is evil, and so another generation of hate mongers is born, raised, and set loose on the innocents of the world.

It is this thinking that has led to terrorism and wars all over. This is why the Congo is in dire straights, after all do you really believe that it would be ignored for so long if the majority of people where white?
